Whispering Cottages Access Statement

The house was built in 1871 and while we aim to meet the needs of all our guests, its location and some of its features make access difficult for people with limited mobility. Our two guest rooms are located in the grounds of our cottage. Our breakfast room is located in the main house which is accessed by four steps.

Sorry, but Whispering Cottages is not suitable for babies, children under 12 or wheelchair users. We are unable to accept pets.

The following statement is a summary of our provision:

Our home is non-smoking throughout. Smoking outside is only permitted away from the building so that smoke does not drift into open windows. If you have any specific questions please feel free to contact us (Tel: +44 (0) 1865 343531 or via: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and we will endeavour to help.

• Pre-Arrival:

Our location is on the main Henley to Oxford A4074 road.

A 400-year-old coaching inn rescued by the local community.

A beautiful country pub & restaurant set in the stunning oxfordshire countryside.

• Arrival and Car Parking:
Check-In is between 3.00pm and 7.00pm. Please advise us if you are likely to arrive outside of these times.

The entrance to Whispering Cottages from the south of the village is a left turn into the driveway. If you are coming from the Oxford direction, once in the village of Nuneham Courtenay (coming down the hill), at the last bus stop lay-by on your right of the main road, turn into our drive. Once booked in, we will direct you to our guests private car park, which is next to the Barn. We are pleased to offer assistance with luggage.

Our Boudoir and Boutique rooms and Baroque Suite are situated in our Barn which is a short distance from the main house. Please note that the Baroque Suite is accessed by an outside stairway.

The breakfast room is located in the main house, which is accessed via shingled path from the Barn, down four steps and in through the French doors. There is one large table in the family room, which all our guests can sit together at, but we also have a table in the dining room should you require to be on your own...Please let us know.

There is a "buffet sideboard" for cereals, fruit juices etc (assistance can be given with the buffet on request). Cooked breakfast, toast and hot drinks are served at the table.

Early Bird Breakfast (for guests wishing to eat before 8.00am) - We will provide cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad (in winter - Compot) and juice in your refrigerator.
